Farewell from the
Long Family
October 2025
It is with extremely heavy hearts that The Long Family officially announces its departure from Lakeshore Inn Resort.
ā
We have been attempting to negotiate the final purchase details since August, and the time has come to accept that we will not be able to reach a mutually beneficial agreement with Mike Mix. We are also choosing, at this time, not to continue on in a management role, as our visions for Lakeshore and our definitions of “family-friendly” do not align.
ā
We have quite literally poured our blood, sweat, and tears into making Lakeshore a welcoming, family-friendly destination for both travelers and locals since our arrival on Memorial Day Weekend 2023. Over the past three summers, the response to our efforts has been overwhelmingly supportive and deeply appreciated.
ā
We’ve made lifelong friends and created memories we will carry with us. We choose to focus on the good that has come from the last 2.5 years and let go of the negativity and drama seekers. Yes, we’ve lost much financially, in time, and in sweat equity but we leave with gains that are far more valuable, and they most definitely make up for it.
ā
The list of people we want to thank and acknowledge for their support and encouragement during this journey is significant, not necessarily in number but in commitment and impact. First and foremost, our employees and guests, who were instrumental to our success lakeside: without you, we wouldn’t have made it through three summers! We also thank our families and close friends who stood by us and showed grace and patience while our lives were consumed by all the moving parts that made up Lakeshore. We’re grateful to our business partners and sponsors over the years who supported our vision and dreams for this location. And we’ll miss working with the traveling and local talent who brought joy and creativity to our venue.
We’re excited for the next chapter of our lives—whatever path God has planned for us. For now, we’ll enjoy extra time with our kids, grandkids, family, and friends.
ā
God bless and thank you for the memories.
